Younger women bear the additional responsibility of tending to children. Since they’re not old enough for mammogram screenings, their cancers often manifest in more aggressive and advanced forms. Balancing work, childcare, and treatment amidst this chaos can be immensely stressful, particularly for single moms. Our young patients also encounter significant challenges in qualifying for social security benefits and are ineligible for Medicare. In today’s costly environment, supporting a family is financially burdensome, compounded by the fact that many young adults have yet to begin saving for their children’s education or unforeseen health crises. Regrettably, women in this age bracket remain a neglected demographic in a society lacking support for those facing serious illnesses at a young age.
